For new and returning singers, your audition elements include:

1. Vocalizing/warm-ups
2. Tonal recognition (singing back notes played on the piano)
3. Sight singing
4. Brief, unaccompanied solo excerpt of about 30 seconds (any song of your choosing; this is for returning singers, and optional for new singers) 

For Jazz 1 auditions, your audition elements include:

1. The required solo piece you will sing (accompanied) is “Body and Soul.” Sheet music and sample accompaniment available here under "Downloads" (you must login to see it). Note – at the audition, I will play for you, but I will follow your tempo/style. 
2. The required ensemble piece you will sing is “You’re Makin’ Me Crazy.” Sheet music and sample accompaniment available here under "Downloads.
1. Learn your part for the first 57 measures (up to Rehearsal “C”)
2. Be prepared to sing your part by yourself and with three other singers not on your part.
3. The Jazz 1 audition will be held after school in the choir room from 2:40pm – 4:30pm on Tuesday, April 24. 

Some additional information:

• Regular auditions will be held during class time for returning singers, to be completed no later than April 20.
• Auditions for new singers will be held during nutrition and lunch during the week of April 16-20 ONLY.
• Results for all auditions will be posted on the Choir Room (216) door after school on Friday, May 4. If you feel an error has been made, please wait until Monday, May 7 to discuss it with Mr. Dokko

Some advice for the Jazz 1 audition

• Don’t fake it. It will painfully obvious if you’re unprepared or don’t know your music. Prepare 110% or don’t show up.
• Everyone will be nervous just like you so get over it. Just do your best!
